How to add a “Book” button to your Google Business Profile

A Book button on your listing turns a searcher into a booking on the spot. There are two ways it gets there — here's the step-by-step for the one that works on any profile, plus what to do when your booking tool isn't supported.

In short

  • A Book button lets customers book straight from your Google listing, instead of having to phone and catch you.
  • The reliable route for a small business is an appointment link pointing at a page that takes bookings — it works on any profile.
  • The link is free to add; you just need a bookable page for it to point at. We build and connect that for you if you'd rather not.

The two ways a Book button appears

There are two ways customers get a Book button on your Google listing, and it's worth knowing which one you're dealing with:

  • Reserve with Google — if your booking runs through a supported partner, Google can show a native booking button that fills automatically from that system. Great when your tool is on the list; out of your hands when it isn't.
  • An appointment link — you add a link in your profile that points at any page where people can book. Google surfaces it as a Book (or Appointments) button. This works on any profile, with whatever booking page you like behind it.

For most local service businesses, the appointment link is the one to reach for: it doesn't depend on your software being supported, and you control exactly where it goes.

Add an appointment link, step by step

Have a bookable page ready

The link needs somewhere real to point — a page where a customer can pick a time and book. Not a Facebook page or a phone number; a page that takes the booking.

Open your Business Profile

Search your own business name on Google while signed in, or open the Google Business Profile you manage, and find the editing options for your listing.

Add the booking / appointment link

In the profile's links or bookings section, add your page as the appointment link. Save it. Google reviews the change and then shows the button on your listing.

Test it on your phone

Open your listing as a customer would and tap the button. Make sure it lands on the booking page and a booking actually goes through. If it doesn't, the link is the thing to fix.

When the button won't stick — and the shortcut

A few things trip people up: the link points at a page that can't take a booking, the page Google previously showed has been retired (many older profile-built sites were shut down and now go nowhere), or the change simply hasn't been reviewed yet. In each case the fix is the same — give the button a real, working page to point at.

If setting all that up yourself sounds like a Saturday you'd rather not spend, that's the shortcut BookDone is: we build the bookable page from your listing, add the link so the button appears, and hand it back working — usually within a day. You do nothing but check we got the details right.

Skip the setup — see your booking page first

We build a page from your Google listing and email you a free preview, with the Book button ready to connect. No card, no catch.

Common questions

Can I add a booking button to my Google listing myself?

Yes. In your Google Business Profile you can add an appointment or booking link that points to any page where customers can book — Google shows it as a Book button on your listing. If your booking runs through a Reserve with Google partner, the button can appear automatically instead.

Do I need Reserve with Google?

No. Reserve with Google lets certain booking providers put a native Book button on your listing, but you don't have to use it. A plain appointment link to a page that takes bookings works on any profile, which is why it's the more reliable route for most small businesses.

What if my booking tool isn't supported?

Then use the appointment-link route: point the link at a page that can take a booking, and the button works regardless of which system sits behind it. This is what BookDone sets up — one bookable page your listing points at.

Is adding a booking button free?

Adding the link in Google Business Profile is free. You still need something for it to point at — a page that actually takes the booking. You can build that yourself or have it done for you.
